(More customer reviews)I decided to buy these probiotics despite the lack of good reviews of this product. What happened to me is that I was traveling in Africa in January and I got really sick with giardia. Two rounds of very strong antibiotics at the beginning of February finally knocked it out, but the toll on my digestive system was pretty severe, as I became really sensitive to lactose and lost about 9% of my body weight. By late March, I had still not regained any weight, and had no energy. My migraines flared up more, perhaps because I wasn't absorbing nutrients as well (and I am dependent on daily doses of magnesium to keep the migraines at bay).
Normally I consume lots of dairy, but any sip of it had me running for the nearest restroom. A naturopath friend of mine recommended that I try to heal my intestines by eating okra, drinking slippery elm tea & marshmallow tea, and taking a probiotic. I chose this one, because it contains those three ingredients in it plus several strains of probiotics. I should also mention that I also was able to still eat yogurt, so I did that daily, too. So I was bombarding my system with probiotics. It took a few weeks, but I got back to normal by Easter, and now I am 100% back to my regular self drinking milk and eating spicy food every day.
Two tips: take these probiotics on an empty stomach & drink a full glass of water with them. The water is necessary for the slippery elm to do it's trick. Don't take these within a few hours of taking medication, as it will hinder the absorption of the meds.
I give four stars, because I hesitate to give a 5 star review to something that was used in conjunction with something else (yogurt). But all the same, I am well again.
