I've used these pills to make things regular for years. They work fine: they include the acidophilus bacteria to produce lactase enzyme to help with lactose intolerance, they come in a handy pill form for easy storage, transportation, and taking, plus they contain no other ingredients except gelatin and water (in case you're worried about allergic reactions). However, you should consider your options when deciding what to use. The active ingredient in these pills is psyllium husk. This is the same stuff that's used in some natural laxatives like Metamucil. So, you might want to look around locally and see what you can find.
Using Metamucil powder as an example of an option, the downside is that it contains other things than just the psyllium husk (flavors, colors, sweeteners, etc.). Of course, those are advantages, too, since it tastes pretty good. Another downside to the Metamucil is that it doesn't include the acidophilus that these pills do. Also, if you can only find the powdered form (it comes in wafer and capsule form, too), it's much more difficult to store, transport, and take. The upside of Metamucil is that it's significantly cheaper than these pills. The numbers will vary depending upon where you buy these things, but for me, these pills cost about 5 cents each (880 mg psyllium per pill). If you match the recommended dosage to that of the Metamucil (3.4 g psyllium per dose -- about 8 cents), that bumps these pills up to about 19 cents for the same amount. That's over twice as expensive. So, look around and see if you can find cheaper versions of psyllium husk.
Again, there's nothing wrong with these pills: I've used them for years and rate them at 3 stars out of 5. Just consider your options.
